Log File View

If you are a webmaster and you have your website hosted on a Windows or Linux server, then you surely know how important a log file is. It helps you see who accesses your web server and it may also show you all the past errors. Viewing errors may help you fix them before the web server becomes unstable and crashes. The problem is that most log files generated by Apache and IIS web servers don't display the information in an easy to read format, making it really difficult to find the information that interests you most.

For this purpose, you could use the Log File View application, a Windows program which allows you to view any log file in a much more efficient way than just opening it in Notepad or Wordpad. After installing the program, the user will first need to select the desired log file from a hard disk or network location. After doing so, one should select the type of web server he is using, because Log File View uses different log formats according to the type of server selected.

At this point, the log file will be displayed using various columns, each of them presenting a specific type of information, like computer names, IP addresses, users and so on. Thus, you can quickly find a certain user IP address or discover a past error which has occurred on the server. For making it even easier to find certain information, Log File View includes a highlight feature, which allows you to color certain text areas which are more important than others.

Log File View includes a complex filtering system, which allows you to configure certain conditions, so that only the most important data is displayed by the application. Thus, you will not miss any important information.
